Definitions

  • Participant: Refers to the disabled person, being the tenant
  • SDA: Specialist Disability Accomodation
  • SDA Provider: Means the landlord or owner of the accommodation, lease is between the Participant and SDA Provider
  • OOA: Onsite Overnight Assistance (means the carer)
  • HPS: High Physical Support means the Participant is severely disabled and needs physical assistance with everyday life. An apartment designed to HPS standards may also accommodate FA as HPS is a higher design category. HPS apartments have reinforced ceiling supports supporting a ceiling hoist to enable the carer/s to move the Participant between the bedroom and the ensuite.
  • FA: Fully Accessible – means the apartment is designed for wheelchair access and circulation
  • Robust: Robust housing is designed and built for resilience, providing a high level of physical access provisions. Materials, products and features are chosen to minimise the risk to participant and the community – and reduce reactive maintenance.
